What is sea buckthorn?
Sea buckthorn is a hardy shrub that grows in cold, dry regions such as Ladakh, Lahaul-Spiti and parts of Uttarakhand. Its small orange berries are sour and slightly oily, and local communities have used them in food for generations.
At Khetveda we buy berries from growers in the Himalayan region and press them into juice. Because the fruit is naturally oily, you may see a thin layer on top of the bottle — just shake well before pouring.
Taste tip: sea buckthorn is very tangy. Start with 30 ml in a glass of water and add a little honey if you like.
